Art of Making

Art of Making is a programme of 16 short documentaries featuring artists and creatives on the South Coast of Wellington, New Zealand, as part of the South Coast Arts Trail.

The films highlight artist stories, practices, and perspectives across the region, celebrating creativity, resilience, and community spirit.

Director of Photography Mateusz Mendrun and sound recordist Sophie Hampson, both Master’s film graduates from Victoria University’s Te Iho ki Motukairangi Miramar Creative Centre, gave many hours of their time over two weekends to film artists in their studios.

Gratitude for additional support from Miramar Creative and businesses on the South Coast of Wellington, who helped make this project possible, and preserve the memory of the artists shaping the region.
